Synopsis: [?] [From The Moving Picture World]? Mrs. John Brown was suffering from a complaint which puzzled doctors and nurses alike. They resorted in vain to all the resources their science and skill could command, and finally stated that if the patient could in some way experience a severe and unusual shock there was a possibility that she might be brought out of her lethargic condition. Mr. Brown hit upon what proved to be a brilliant idea. With this in his mind he interviewed the advertising manager of a large department store and made the proposition to him to pay for a full page advertisement in a daily paper, the prices of each article to be ridiculously low. The sale was to last one day only. His proposition was accepted and the following morning the ad appeared in the papers. After another sleepless night Mrs. Brown was startled by her nurse, who, opening the morning paper, glanced at the display in the paper. Forgetting her patient and all else save the bargains, she grabbed her bonnet and cloak and ran. Anxious to know the cause of this strange conduct, Mrs. Brown got to the paper, and she, too, read the wonderful ad. With true womanly instinct she jumped out of her bed, quickly dressed without any resistance and joined the fighting mob of bargain hunters. She bought shirtwaists and lingerie by the wagon load, returned completely cured, much to her husband’s joy, which rapture, however, was sadly (ended) when the bill came in for his share in the conspiracy. The blow was too much for him, so in turn was compelled to take to bed and place himself in the doctor’s care.
