The Arcadia Theatre was originally opened in 1920. After being operated for a short time by Arcadia Amusement Company of Huntington, West Virginia, the theatre was leased in 1921 to the Columbia Amusement Company of Ashland, Kentucky, who rechristened the venue the Capitol Theatre. The Columbia company completed installation in the theatre of a cooling and ventilation system in June 1925.

In 1978, the building was repurposed as a retail space and was the home of C.H. Parson’s men’s store.
