The Grand Theatre was originally opened in 1914, the building having been leased to Daniel Norton. The theatre was soon leased to Columbia Amusement Company of Ashland, Kentucky, in 1915, who operated the theatre on lease until they bought the building from King in 1923. Columbia spent approximately $10,000 on the installation of a Wurlitzer pipe organ, which was completed in April 1928.

In 1937, the theatre was renamed the Alfon Theatre. The building was demolished at a later time.
